Blog 1 (sorry its late)

Welcome to Class 3!

Welcome everyone to the Year 3 blog. Apologies for the delay in getting started. I will endeavour to update blog on a weekly basis from now on.

We had had a great start to the year. I want to say a big thank you to all the children and parents that have been so supportive. The children have reacted really well to the new routines, and I have been so impressed with their behaviours. As a class we have talked in depth about resilience, and how we will all make mistakes, (including me) and how that is an important part of our learning. Thank-you to all the children for their help.

Reading

As a class, we will be doing lots of reading in class this year. They should be reading a variety of boos through the year. This includes the reading books from school and books that they have chosen from the library. These reading for pleasure books may be above their reading level so please make sure you are reading with them as much as you can at home. As readers, we will be reading “VIPERS”, where we will delve deeper into the book than the words themselves. We will think about the Vocabulary, Inferring the text, Predicting what might happen, Explaining what we have read, retrieving information from the text and Summarising what we have read.

Homework

On a normal week, Homework will consist of 3 elements. English (writing, spelling, handwriting), maths and something a little different. Maths will be online and all of the passwords have been sent home in their home learning books.

Homework will expect the children to work independently and may require them to use books, ask questions and use the internet to research to find their answers. Thank you.

3/4 Football tournament

Last week we had 9 children represent the school at the Year 3/4 football tournament at Wollaston school. The children were amazing ambassadors to the school and showed incredible sportsmanship and what it looks like to play as a team and ensure that everyone was included. As a result, they won every game and the tournament overall! Well done to all. Teamwork really does make the dreamwork!

Harvest

As part of the harvest festival on Thursday 12th I have challenged class 3 to perform a song. We will be performing the Harvest Samba. They should have brought their words home. Below is the music for them to learn if they can.

Gardening club

Gardening is now fully up and running and three groups have now been out to master their horticultural skills with Alice and the team. I will post some pictures in due course.

Questions:

If you have any questions about anything we do in and out of class, please do not hesitate to ask.
